Ah, weekends…

Happy Monday Internet!

Not much to say on this Monday morning (besides that I kind of still wish it was the weekend, or at least that I could have a mulligan for a lazy Sunday), but we all know how that goes…

Ever since the episode a couple posts ago with the Moon and Venus, I (Travis) have been plotting to borrow our friends’ big telescope that they ostensibly use to look at the sky (we know, however, that they’re really using it to keep tabs on the entire city of Boulder from their vantage point up on the hill). Anyhow, they graciously let me come by and pick it up this weekend, and on my way into the mountains to look at the Moon and take his pitcha, I stopped at Chautauqua Park to see if I could grab a photo of the Flatirons.

Lucky for me, the Moon photos turned out like blurry white blobs (I’ll figure that out later), but the Flatirons photos turned out pretty sweet! As for how the magic above happened, I think I was set on ~30 seconds exposure, somewhere around a 2.8 aperture, and I used my trusty old 750,000,000,000,000,000,000 candle power marine spotlight that I keep in the Jeep to briefly light-paint the foreground. And FYI, when you’ve got a 750-google-plex candle power spotlight, you only need to illuminate the foreground for 1 second or so or it will be blown out. After a little playing, I nailed it in this photo, and believe it or not, this is straight out the camera – no PP!

Ok, well kids, that’s all for Monday. Oh, wait, I was published in a magazine this month! I’ll tell you more about that next post. Suffice it to say, right now I’m basically as famous as the Pope, but no autographs please.

Happy Monday to all!
