Sarah and Mike came from Seattle to Boulder to soak up a little Colorado sun and mountain blue skies on their wedding day. However, they got a little taste of home with a rainy and overcast wedding day. They were amazing, all relaxed and good natured about the turn of weather events, and the wedding turned out beautiful and so fun. It’s always interesting to see how people will respond in the case of unexpected circumstances, and Sarah and Mike came through with flying colors: flexible, positive, upbeat, and so, so happy to be marrying each other that day. And it will make a good story too…like how Sarah wore a shower cap from the hotel over to the ceremony site…
We are fans of interesting wedding weather – that whole blizzard thing on our winter wedding in 2006 was awesome. :)
We started out shooting Sarah, the moms and the bridesmaids at Q’s at the Boulderado for brunch, then headed over to the UMC on the University of Colorado campus. Sarah and Mike saw each other before the ceremony, so we were able to do some relaxed portraits of the bridal party and families before the ceremony, which was held in the atrium of the UMC. After the ceremony, dinner and hilarious, frenzied dancing ensued…Mike’s friends are exceptionally excellent dancers and did not hold back at all – we were quite entertained!!!

The rain slowed to a drizzle enough that we could hop out onto the terrace at the UMC (original ceremony site) and grab a few photos of the lovely couple. Normally this spot has a sweeping flatirons view, but today it was just mist. The rain made everything look vibrant green, though:
