Meet Guanella…

This is Guanella. She took us to Mexico this week. We roadtripped all the way to Puerto Penasco, Mexico for our second anniversary celebration (which is actually December 29), talking, laughing and lovin’ each other as we rolled down miles and miles of highway, through the plains and deserts and past mountains and cacti and sunsets. All the way to the ocean. It was a fabulous adventure, and we returned today full of sweet memories and thankful that we have each other, a cozy little apartment to come home to, and so many blessings we can’t even keep track of them all.
This was our view of Mexico from Arizona, right before crossing the border:

I love the kid checking Guanella out in the car next to us. We got so many laughs, stares, smiles as we barrelled down the road in our orange loaf of bread…how can you not love her!

Introducing myself to the Sea of Cortez. The ocean is beautiful.

I’m trying to concentrate on my kite-flying, but someone is distracting me…

There’s a fishing puerta in Puerta Penasco, and we took a walk on the docks to capture some photos of these old, old, dirty but very intriguing vessels.

This man really, really wanted to give Trav this squid as a gift. He might have been a bit inebriated, but it was a nice thought. It wouldn’t fit in his pocket so Trav kindly turned it down.

Camping right on the beach was the BEST! We built a fire and listened to the waves (and later, the rain) that night, and awoke to the ocean breeze and an amazing sunrise.

These Saguaros were amazing! I had never even seen one in person before this! Shortly after we took these pictures we were accosted by park rangers because we had pulled over onto protected land, and we were only a mile from the border (this was on our way home)…and apparently they see a lot of people-and-drug-smugglin happening right about exactly where we had pulled over in our highly suspicious orange bus with a flower on the front. So, they searched Guanalla thoroughly, and she felt very violated. Luckily, they didn’t find anything and let us be on our way.

That’s all for now, so…Happy Thanksgiving!
